Records managed by services

Why some records are locked, and how to change them.

A record set service (for example Google Workspace mail) creates DNS records on every domain it is attached to. Those records show as locked on the domain's DNS tab, labelled with the service.

To change them, edit the service: the change applies to every domain it's attached to. To remove them from one domain, detach the service from that domain.

You can't add your own record that conflicts with a service-managed one (for example a second CNAME on the same name); the editor explains which service owns the name.
